Intern Placements: Meet “NowHere Lisbon”

One perk of doing an Erasmus internship in Lisbon with Synopsis is the variety of placements and internships offered. Today I would like to focus on one very interesting and exciting one! ‘NowHere Lisbon” is an experimental gallery space with lots of exciting research and projects in the contemporary art field. The gallery was founded by Cristiana Tejo and Marila Dardot in 2018.

Cristiana Tejo is an art historian who has recently been focusing on the connection between female artists and the experimental art practices in Latin America. Cristiana is an integrated member in the department of art history at NOVA Univeristy in Lisbon, with all this knowledge and expertise our interns definitely have an incredible experience.

Juliette- one of our current interns from Twin Internships said that “ working at NowHere has given me amazing experience in both digital marketing and event management. It has allowed me to meet like minded artists and collaborators. My favourite part of my time at NowHere has been hosting the events and opening nights of exhibitions’. Sofia described it as a creative atmosphere, with a real community artist feel in the experimental art environment.

This weekend there was an exciting event held in the gallery. The opening of the latest exhibition, “I used to be a dancer’ by Veridiana Leite. It was an excellent evening with people coming to look at the art, have a drink and watch performance art by “Duda”. Our interns were lucky enough to be involved with this event and it was an excellent evening for everyone!

As our interns’ time in Lisbon sadly comes to a close we want to thank NowHere for all their support and expertise. Doing an internship in Lisbon is fantastic for developing so many different skills and we cannot wait to see what else happens in the future!
